‘Unlike man’s, the woman’s body was not taken from the earth. G-d built one side of man into woman – so that the single human being became two.’

Jewish mysticism teaches us that our soul mate is predetermined before we are born. That one soul is made into two and that once we have found that special someone our souls are re-united under the Chuppah making us whole.

When you get married you are bringing the Divine into your relationship and making it holy. The blessings under the Chuppah elevate the couple’s commitment beyond human limitations and acknowledge that they are married not just because they chose to be, but because G-d said so.

All couples getting married at The Central Synagogue partake in our pre-marriage course. Our couples are guided on important discussions regarding building the “Pillars of a Jewish home & insights into a Jewish Marriage” as well as aspects of a “Practical Marriage: In session four, a highly regarded psychologist in private practice explores various topics; “expectations from one another, communicating effectively, and responsibilities in marriage.”

The final session is for the girls only to discuss
“The Mikveh and the Laws of Purity.”

If the wedding is held at the shul we will provide the chuppah but should you choose an external venue, a chuppah will have to be provided by the family.

The classes form part of your pre-wedding preparations and are interesting, informative and extremely valuable in helping establish the framework for a wonderful married life. If the wedding is held at the shul we will provide the chuppah but should you choose an external venue, a chuppah will have to be provided by the family.

Throughout the year, our Central community is joined by Jews from all over the world, wanting to see our beautiful sanctuary and share in our unique experience. As on the tree of life, our growth and love spreads as we pass on the nurturing, love and understanding of Jewish life to our children and the youth of our shul – the life and soul of every community.

PLEASE NOTE:

All weddings conducted via The Central Synagogue will have to provide kosher catering at the function following the chuppah.

We will require proof of your Jewish identity in the form of your parent’s Ketubah so please ensure you have this document when booking a wedding.

If you have been married previously we will require a copy of your Get (Jewish divorce)

The choir should be contacted directly should you wish them to sing at your wedding. Call Rabbi Niasoff 0414 262 006

Please contact Linda, (02) 9355 4022, to book your wedding and to receive all the documents which you will need to complete.
