Bar/Batmitzvah Academy
The age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah marks a very special time in the lives of your children. To enhance this wonderful moment, we at The Central Synagogue have created both a Bar & Bat Mitzvah program to make this incredible journey even more special.
The Bar Mitzvah Academy is an interactive course which further explores the true meaning of becoming Bar Mitzvah and taking the first steps on the road to Jewish manhood. We discuss the topic of Kashrut with our local shochet who presents a “hands on” demonstration as well as a session with a scribe who shows the boys how a Torah is written and how to wear Tefillin. It is an enriching course in which fathers and sons have the opportunity of learning together and benefit from discovering the true significance of Judaism.
In our Bat Mitzvah Academy the girls and their mums, discover that the road of the Bat Mitzvah journey is an enjoyable learning adventure, without feeling as though they are back in a classroom. The classes engage the girls mentally and spiritually and they are invited to discuss their ideas on the relevance of Jewish women in today’s society. The girls will learn challah baking and create their own beautiful Judaic keepsakes. The program culminates with a family lunch where the girls participate in the official “graduation ceremony” where they perform a play and are presented with their individual certificates.
Both clubs are an excellent opportunity to meet other children celebrating their Bar/Bat Mitzvah at our Shule.
